Reinventing Myself
At the age of 62 (?!) I find myself with a lot of free time on my hands. I was a practicing dental hygienist for over 40 years. Needed eye surgery has forced me to take time off for the procedures and recovery. So, I thought this would be a good season of life to re-evaluate.
Retirement is getting closer, and I will probably need to pad the old nest egg. I have had a lot of experience (that’s another way of saying I am old!) that I can share with whoever wants some help. Maybe this would be a good opportunity to re-invent myself! So now – I am a blogger.
But, I also have jumped with both feet into the Hand Lettering revolution! You have probably noticed a ton of signs out there that look like they were hand drawn – in chalk and other markers. I have always been interested in crafting, My craft room is outfitted with all kinds of supplies that I have used for various projects. I love craft supplies. But I tend to collect them – hoard them, if you will. For some reason I could never bring myself to use them up – as if I would not be able to replace them. I know – CrAzY!!
But when I recently bought an iPad Pro and an iPencil, I discovered a whole new way of being creative – and not ‘use up’ any supplies! The drawing app “Procreate” and the iPencil are all I need to practice my hand lettering. I have found all kinds of resources online – from free tutorial to paid courses and monthly challenges to keep practicing interesting. It has been a lot of fun!
This page will be the home page for my Galleries of my work. Truthfully, I don’t really know how a “gallery” works on WordPress – so this is my first attempt. I will probably tweak it a bit after I see it “in print”. So take look at the works I created for March – maybe you will find some inspiration to start hand lettering yourself!
