One Step at a Time

I have been taking a break from my blog – but I have been really busy!  Back in March, I mentioned that I had some surgery on my left eye.   In a month or so, I will need the same on my right eye which will need another 4 month recovery. This whole process has put my “gainful employment status” on hold.

I am 62 years old now, and retirement is just around the corner. I thought this would be a great opportunity to figure out what the next chapters are going to look like. One of my goals while I am taking this time off, was to find alternate ways of gaining income.

In the last couple of months I have really gotten interested in Hand Lettering. I posted a few images that I have worked on. (You can find these in my galleries.)  I really enjoy the process of designing and creating these images, but I wanted to do something with them.

What I have decided to do is market them as greeting cards. It has been quite the process of figuring out exactly how to do this, however! When I started this journey, I had no idea how steep the learning curve was going to be.  I have learned a ton about printing and Etsy and using PayPal on a blog – but I am not quite there yet! But I have decided that the name of this venture will be Harmony Designs by Invention’s Mom.  There is a new tab in the menu and some unfinished pages for shopping cart & checkout – but not of it is really functional yet.

I do get a bit frustrated at times, but I just keep reminding myself that I have never done anything like this before – but that I CAN LEARN!  So, I just take a deep breath and keep reading, researching & revealing what the next step is going to be!

On that note, I decided to share one of my images. This is a photograph I took several years ago that will be in my line. The verse inside will read:

“You don’t have to see the whole stairway…

You just have to see the next step.”

I hope to be making some decisions in the next couple of weeks as to how this is all going to go. As soon as I know, I will let y’all know!  Until then – Onward  &  Upward!
