It’s harder than it looks!
I hope you all had a wonderful, safe Fourth of July, celebrating however you wanted! I had a lovely time with family & friends with lots of good food & drink & fireworks!
If you have been following me, you know that I am testing my artistic wings with my iPad & Apple Pencil. One of my goals was to be able to market my images somehow. I checked into using EZ Prints as well as Finer Works.com – but neither of them replied to inquiries, so I scratched them from the list! I set up shops on Etsy and Fine Art America, but both options were not quite what I wanted..
Etsy seemed like there was a lot of “tending” required – paying attention to purchases made and fulfilling orders. I was really looking for something a bit more “hands-free”. The Fine Art America site has a ton of options as far as products that can be made with your own images. But the personalization was a bit limited. The main thing I really want to focus on – at this point – is greeting cards. They had no options to include a verse inside nor any way to add a logo to the back of the card.
After Googling “print on demand” (because in my researching for printers, I discovered that particular kind of printer was what I was looking for!) I found an article – “the 10 best Print on Demand Websites: the Definitive 2017 Guide”. Perfect!
In this list, I found a company called “Zazzle”. One of the things I really like about Zazzle is that I can create cards with verse on the inside. Not all my cards have a verse, but, I really like having the option to have one!
Another feature is that I can set the card in my shop with or without options – exactly as I want to sell it or let my customer choose what they want. More options!
This has been kind of a jerky beginning to this effort. Lots of false starts & hesitations. I have learned a lot about the options (there’s that word again!) open to me and think I have chosen wisely. Now to get on with the show!
My first listing is a Thank You card, which is only fitting. I am so grateful for all the encouragement (and patience) of my friends & family as I re-invent myself!
Here is a sneak peak into my shop:
I still need to stock my store – HD by Invention’s Mom – and take care of all the busy work that a new store requires, before it is open to the public. I will update often, and as soon as it is ready, you can be sure I will announce it here!
You have a great rest of this short (😀) well and I’ll see you soon!
